House Warming

Below are a couple of pictures from my house warming/going away party. It was a gorgeous day in the Hudson Valley and to be able to show my new home and excitement of my new life to my friends.

Below is a picture of Blue and our new home at Kingston Point Beach in Kingston, NY.

Here is a picture of Poco, Nube and myself taken by a friend of mine who use to take great care of my boys when I was away.

Randall didn't come to the party.  I figured it might be a bit much for him... next time.

Keeping an eye on the weather

Looks like I have to keep an eye on the weather.  Next week it is suppose to be colder and wet.  No reason to really torture myself thru that... also I have to keep an eye on Sandy.  There is a slight possibility the tropical storm would come this way.  I plan to pack up everything this weekend anyways so I will be ready to go at any time after probably Saturday.  If the weather doesn't shape up I will be shipping out... or well driving out. :)  Can't believe the time is going by so quickly.  I am so very tired with a lot to accomplish this week... no rest for the weary.  I have some great times ahead of me and I am enjoying every moment.

So much to do so little time

Time is running low as I leave November 1.  I still have to figure out what I am bringing with me... what I am shipping to my parents house and what I am leaving behind.  I also have to finish my crochet cover for my trailer.  Then of course there is everything at work I need to do and be sure is ready for me to leave.  10 days will go quickly and I will be tired but then I will mosey my way to my parents house for hopefully a little bit of rest.

Today I had a House Warming/Going Away party for myself  I have a few friends come and it was a beautiful day.  I am very thankful.  Tomorrow I am giving a presentation for work at the Cerebral Palsy Association of New York Conference in Saratoga Springs.  Should be a great conference.

Soo much to do ... soo little time to get it all done. Life is good.

Getting Comfortable

I have been enjoying sleeping in my new home... just waiting for the tent that will attach so I can bring the boys over and we can all be together.  I took a longer ride today into the next town.... which meant I had to hit the highway.  All was good.  I have to admit the first time I went out I was nervous I wouldn't be able to do it... but then I remembered I thought the same thing the first time I went out on Blue and here Blue and I are 5 years together and over 70,000 miles.  It is quite empowering to work thru your fears and doubts and I am doing that each day.  Time is flying by and I have a lot to do before my house warming/going away party on Sunday.  Better get to work. :)

A picture of Blue and our new home in Kingston... we made it and even parked well.

2nd Time Out

I went out for the second time this evening pulling the new home.  It is different pulling something behind a motorcycle.  The turns are different, the hills are different and of course stopping is different.  I just have to take my time... no rush pulling our new home... no need to rush really.. where would I go in a hurry?

I have also been sleeping in the new home.  Randall (my cat) can't come in until I get the tent that connects so he has a place to go.  So Poco and Nube keep him company at night in the shack while I sleep in the trailer.  It is nice to have a break but I love to snuggle with them at night.  The tent should be coming this week so we can try that out over the weekend.

One thing I need to figure out is where to put my shoes.  Yesterday it was raining and I was in the trailer but had no where to put my dirty wet shoes.  I just put them in a plastic bad and set them on top of the tire.  There has got to be a better solution.  Once I get my tent they could go in there but I need to find a place to put them that keeps them dry and safe when I just use the trailer.  Something to think about.

Anyway here is a picture of Blue and our new home at the grocery store.  I need to find a name for my new home.

I was kind of bummed today and not sure why but I had a big smile on my face after getting home from our short test drive.  I am the luckiest.  Next I think will be the highway.

Best of Show

I was so excited to find out that my crochet formal I made last spring took first prize in the Crochet by Hand section at the Hog Festival in Cadiz, KY.  It also took Best of Show.  I have never won anything... or even noticed so I was really excited and quite proud.  My mom also got first prize for her needle point and second in Best of Show. Pretty good results for our first time submitting to the Hog Festival.

Here are some pictures:

My outfit and my mom's needle point is in the larger frame on the table.  There is my name on the list of Best of Show. :)

Closer look of the Best of Show Names.  I can't believe I am #1.  Amazing.

My first prize ribbon of sorts.  I guess this was the first year they didn't hand out real ribbons.

Here is what the outfit looks like on me... I created it for a banquet I went to last spring.

I crocheted everything but the pants, boots and glasses.

I feel very honored. :)

Our New Home

My trailer arrived Friday night.  There are a couple things that still need to come but the main trailer is here.

My new trailer attached to Blue (my motorcycle)

I took it for a short spin thru town yesterday... with a lot of stares and even a woman followed me to where I was going to check it out.

The foot shifter on Blue broke on Thursday so I was having a hard time remembering that I only have the front toe shifter and not the back heel so I will take it out for a longer test spin this week once that is fixed.

It is a little odd knowing I have something behind me that is wider than me.... no more roaming around the lane... have to stay in the middle. hehe...  Blue seemed to do ok first time out.  I live in the mountains so it is a bit of a strain but she seemed to handle it well.  Hopefully that Oil Bud will keep her cool.

I spent the night in the trailer last night.  It was so nice to have electricity and warmth.  Friday night was the coldest night of the season hitting below freezing and the trailer didn't arrive until after 11pm so it wasn't all that convenient getting it all ready for me to sleep in the trailer in the dark and middle of the night.  So I was quite thankful to be warm and be able to talk to people online, catch up on my shows and see what I was crocheting.  Very exciting!!

I brought Poco and Nube (my 2 dogs) into the trailer this morning.  They are asleep as we speak.

Poco and Nube when they first came into our new home

Randall will have to wait until the screened in attached tent comes so he has room to wander.  So he is still in the shack.

Now time to figure out what to ship to my parents and what to carry with me.  This may take a bit of thinking thru.  Not a whole lot of space so I need to figure out what is necessary.

Can't believe my dream is coming true.

It's Coming!!!

I am so excited this week... my new home will be here either Friday or Saturday.  Hopefully I got Blue all ready to go.  I had to have my mechanic install one little piece last night for the wiring harness... then today I had to modify a bit since it was vibrating... that is a whole other story.  So hopefully if all goes right and working I will be practicing pulling my trailer this weekend!!!

I am extra excited because I don't have to do any more markets on the weekends and can use the time to get ready to leave and to crochet.  It feels like there is still a ton of preparation before departure.  I have to get some promo things started... crochet for my house warming/going away party, get the boys use to our new home and figure out how to pull a trailer with Blue.  It shall be an interesting few weeks.

On a side note my mom entered my crochet outfit I made last spring in the Cadiz, KY Ham Festival going on this weekend.  So if you are in the area you should stop by.  My crochet items are now also on sale in Cadiz at Loose Treasures.  Thanks to my mom for getting that all going for me.

A picture of me in my crochet formal wear I made last spring for an awards banquet.  I made everything but the pants, boots and glasses.

Time for Me

I have finally had a day or two for myself.  It has been a long time since I have been working to save up enough money to start this new adventure.  I am one that really misses being with my boys when I am away at work all day so I have enjoyed our days together.  Today the sun has actually appeared so I think this afternoon we are going to go for a nice walk down the Rail Trail.

It is getting a bit chilly here in the Hudson Valley... especially over night... but I will hopefully be getting my new home at the end of the week... which means electricity!!!!! and that means I can use  my heated mattress pad and use all my blankets as blankets and not as a cushion to sleep on.  I am sooo very excited.  I hope my boys like our new home.

Only 23 more days left and I am excited about finally having time to work on my own art... my work will be my main priority.  I so can't wait!!!  I have many thoughts as to what I want to work on and what I want to do so hoping for a productive time on my BlueRoad Adventure.

Crocheting time

I am a manic crocheter and I have been going a bit crazy because I haven't had the time or the light to crochet as much as I usually do.  I finally had a day yesterday to catch up on orders and today while rendering video I have been able to crochet all day.  The world feels right again. :)  You can see some of my crochet creations at neldee.com.

I started planning my BlueRoad House Warming Party.  Anyone who wants to come is welcome.  It will be October 21 from 12-3pm.  Most likely at Kingston Point in Kingston, NY.  It will be pot luck so bring your favorite dish.  Also if you have a good camping one pot meal you can bring that or send me the recipe.  Remember I don't really cook and have limited kitchen supplies and probably no refrigeration.  No house warming presents but if you feel you need to bring something you can bring a gas card or gas money... that is all I am needing for my new home.

During this House Warming you will be able to see my Little Guy Rascal Trailer, Blue and hopefully the Adapted Doggie Carrier.  Hopefully I will have the time to decorate my trailer so come by and check out what one can do with a trailer and some yarn. :)

Hope to see you there!!

26 More Days!!

When??

Hopefully today I will find out when my new home will arrive.  I need it before the 14th and I just realized that means it needs to come sometime next week.  I am so excited!!!  I have so much I need to do when it comes I should start planning now.  I have to create promotional materials, plan my house warming/going away party for here in the Hudson Valley.  I also have some creative things I want to do with the trailer before I leave... and of course getting everything organized and ready to live in.  This will be my first very own home.... I so can't wait!!!!!

Rainy Days and Mondays Get Me Down

This song has been running thru my head all day.

It has been raining non stop and I have so much to do but am stuck at home.  So I used the day to catch up on some crocheting that I have been wanting and needing to do.  The trees are turning and it is quite beautiful here in the Hudson Valley... fall is here and going fast.  I just wish these all day rainy days would be done.  It is suppose to rain all day tomorrow also.  Rainy days mean a wet Jackie and that means I will be wet for days... and cold.

On a good note I am under 30 days until I leave for my new adventure.  My trailer will hopefully be here in less than 2 weeks... just have to keep myself going until then.  Getting very excited and anxious.  I am ready for my new life on the road!!

A little Bob Seger to keep me excited.  :D
